Synopsis: Thaumatrope Theatre is proud to present HAIR, the '60s counterculture classic musical, this November. Presented as a series of songs and scenes in the life of a "tribe" of New York hippies, HAIR explores coming of age in the shadow of war and the shifting political landscape of the midcentury; its deconstruction of American identity, racial and gender divides, and musical theatre conventions, as well as its celebration of joy and community in the face of adversity, make it as important and timely as ever.
General content warnings: Racist language, sexual dialogue and situations, drug and alcohol use, themes of war, violence, and death.
This production was described as "visually striking," "vibrant," and "a template for needed resistance." Read more press clips here!
